Prince Harry and Meghan Markle blasted as fake by expert: Genuine Outreach or Staged Performance?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, have recently wrapped up a four-day visit to Colombia, but their trip has ignited a heated debate among royal observers.

Are their actions genuine attempts at philanthropy, or merely carefully orchestrated performances?

Let’s dive into the details of their visit and the controversy surrounding it.

At the invitation of Colombia’s vice-president, Francia Márquez, the couple embarked on what some have dubbed a “faux-royal” tour.

Their itinerary was packed with activities that bore a striking resemblance to official royal visits of years past.

They spent time engaging with activists, experts, and school children, focusing on the impact of social media on young people and participating in a summit on internet safety.

The couple also took the opportunity to immerse themselves in Colombia’s rich culture and history.

But not everyone is buying into the sincerity of their efforts.

Royal broadcaster Robert Jobson, speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, didn’t mince words when he suggested that everything the Sussexes do is “fake.”

He went so far as to describe their actions as “staged,” raising eyebrows among royal watchers and fans alike.

Jobson’s criticisms didn’t stop there.

He took aim at the couple’s controversial Netflix documentary, which apparently played a role in their invitation to Colombia.

Vice President Márquez mentioned she had “heard their story on Netflix,” prompting Jobson to retort, “It wasn’t just fast and loose with the truth, a lot of it was complete baloney.”

The royal expert’s skepticism extended to the very nature of the visit itself.

He questioned why Harry and Meghan seemed to be mimicking a royal tour, complete with “elements of politics and elements of caring for young kids.”

Jobson pondered aloud, “If Meghan and Harry wanted to do ‘quasi-royal tours,’ why not stick around and do it properly?

Then they would have been doing it for the King and the country which is what Harry always bangs on about.”

But what exactly did the couple do during their time in Colombia?

In Bogota, the nation’s capital, they tackled the thorny issue of social media’s impact on children.

Speaking at a summit on digital responsibility, partly organized by their Archewell Foundation, warned of the real-world consequences of online misinformation.

“What happens online within a matter of minutes transfers to the streets,” he cautioned.

“People are acting on information that isn’t true.”

The Duke also touched on the looming specter of artificial intelligence, noting that many people are “scared and uncertain” about its potential impact.

He emphasized the importance of education and awareness in combating the spread of false information.

Despite the criticisms, Vice President Márquez appeared to view the visit in a positive light.

She described it as “very special,” highlighting its focus on cyber issues while also expressing hope that it would help build bridges and promote women’s leadership in Colombia.

For Harry and Meghan, this marks their first time in the South American country and their second joint international visit of the year, following a three-day trip to Nigeria in May.

But as they continue to carve out their post-royal roles, the debate over their intentions and authenticity shows no signs of abating.

Jobson, for his part, believes the couple needs to reassess their approach.

“I think they need to work out what they want to do,” he stated.

“They don’t come across as particularly authentic.”

He suggested that instead of multiple outfit changes and carefully staged events, the Sussexes should focus on “things that are authentic.”

As the dust settles on their Colombia visit, one thing is clear: Harry and Meghan continue to be polarizing figures in the public eye.

Their every move is scrutinized, analyzed, and debated.

Whether viewed as genuine philanthropists or savvy performers, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain a topic of fascination for royal watchers around the globe.

While their intentions may be questioned, there’s no denying that their visit has brought attention to important issues like digital safety and youth empowerment.

As they continue to navigate their post-royal lives, only time will tell how Harry and Meghan’s public image and philanthropic efforts will evolve.

For now, the world watches with keen interest, waiting to see what the next chapter holds for this most controversial of royal couples.
