Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘planned Oprah interview years in advance,’ author reveals

According to a royal biographer, and Meghan prepared their shocking Oprah Winfrey interview years in advance.

This accusation comes from Andrew Morton, who claims that “they were planning the big Oprah interview several years before it actually happened.”

“He was in secret negotiations for six months after the wedding.

“The pair couldn’t understand why the press office wouldn’t deny every single story, and why they just used to say ‘no comment’ regarding specific issues.”

In the book, Morton claims that he expected the couple to flee the UK for the sake of their marriage because Meghan isn’t willing to take any more.

“For Harry, it was either Meghan, or the monarchy,” he said in the book.

“She talked about the fact that ‘people hate me just because I’m breathing. What’s the point of continuing?’ She had some pretty dark nights of the soul in the times that she was a member of the Royal Family.”

Regardless, Mr Morton believes ‘s death informed ‘s decision.

“He’s trying to protect Meghan in the way that he couldn’t protect Diana, and I think that’s very deeply embedded in his psychology.”

According to the biographer, there are parallels between Meghan’s and Diana’s experiences.

“Diana felt quite suicidal in the early days of her time in the Royal Family, but she got through it in the end, and I think that Meghan and Harry were not prepared to spend that time,” he said.

The conversation between and Oprah Winfrey broadcast on ITV in March of this year.

Meghan claimed she had a racist encounter with a royal who questioned what color her child’s skin would be when she was pregnant for the first time.

The interview took place less than a year after Meghan and Harry retired from royal duties and relocated to Los Angeles.
